International News: Hundreds of students' visas have been cancelled due to a new investigation process called 'Catch and Rivok' launched against international students in the US. The program, declared by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, aims to monitor social media posts related to anti-Jewish views and Palestine or Hamas.
According to a recently released report by the US Immigration Counsel Association (AILA), 327 visas have been canceled. Half of these cases are related to Indian students. On the other hand, Chinese students have the most impact on the second number. About 14 percent of Chinese students have been affected. Students from South Korea, Nepal and Bangladesh have also been affected.
The Department of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said that the visa status of 4,736 international students has been canceled in the last few months. Most of them were students studying in America on F-1 visa. Out of these, there were also a large number of students who were working in America after completing their studies under alternative vocational training (OPT).
According to reports, Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology is being used in the students' investigation, which is expected to target many innocent students as well. Visa of many students who had no criminal records, or those who were involved only of peaceful protests have also been canceled.

Due to the cancellation of the visa, students studying in states such as Texas, California, New York, Michigan and Arizona have suffered the most. The legal status of about 1,000 international students has been affected since the end of March.
The Government of India has also become active on the matter. Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said, "We have received information that many Indian students have received information from the US government about their F-1 visa status. We are investigating the matter and the US embassy and consulate in the US are in constant touch with the students."
Describing this action as unprecedented, Aila has said that it raises many legal questions and it is possible that in some cases the court has to adopt the path. Experts believe that this step may have a profound impact on the future of international students pursuing higher education in the US.
